According to the UK Times Online, Mallorca is a "hot" spot for well heeled international buyers purchasing their second, third or even fourth home. You get my drift...it has some very pricey real estate but is still a bargain compared to many markets. And what a beautiful island, the sea, the mountains, the architecture. Oh my!
Mr. "snow" and I spent a week in Mallorca over a past Christmas holiday. We split our time between the Puigpunyent countryside and an urban setting in Palma. I will save the city visit for another time.
Our country stay was at Gran Hotel Son Net and this is the only way to travel. An uber boudica pick. http://http//www.sonnet.es/gran_hotel_son_net.hotels
The Finca Son Net dates from 1672 and was opened as Mallorca's premier luxury hotel in 1998.
One night we ordered room service, wine and cheese, just because our suite was so beautiful that we didn't feel like leaving it to walk to dinner.
The restaurant, Oleum, is an old olive press with stunning stone and timber beams throughout. The food and ambiance were excellent and they have an extensive wine selection.
For the art lover, there is a fine selection of original works by the likes of Andy Warhol, Mark Chagall, Frank Stella, David Hockney.

The beautiful grounds include a 30 meter pool with private cabanas for relaxing.
Indicative of a fine hotel, the wait staff was ever attentive without being intrusive but very discreet and respectful of your privacy. Loved it!
Now the best part. The Gran Hotel is celebrating its 10th anniversary and offering 1998 prices. Go and check it out. You will love it. After all, it is an uber boudica pick.
Until next time...
