This is a "must see" event that is gaining momentum all over Europe and elsewhere. "Fete de la Musique", Midsummer Madness, celebrates the summer solstice this Saturday, 21 June. Musicians perform in the streets, squares, plazas, restaurants and bars. It has become such a social phenomena that a postage stamp was issued in 1998 to commemorate its success. In Paris, rock concerts are planned for Place de la Republique, classical orchestras will play at Palais Royal and indie bands at Denfert-Rochereau.
Other venues around the world are catching on with San Fransisco, New York City, Manila, Brazil and Columbia joining in the carnival atmosphere.
My very favorite way to fly to Europe is with Virgin Atlantic and you have to join their Flying Club for all the added perks. First Class is divine but they also have the more economical Premium Economy which is equal to many airlines Business Class. You have a dedicated cabin with its own flight crew and real china... proper cutlery! It doesn't cost much more than Economy and it is well worth it, especially on those long international flights.
