Surfs Up!

It's the weekend and spring is here along with beach weather, surfing and all that is water related. I grew up surfing literally 24/7, when there were waves and when there were none, before sunup to after sundown. Even when it was a flat, sweltering, windless summer day, we dragged out the Hawaiian long boards and pretended to be at Pipeline, The Wedge or Bali. The music of The Beach Boys was a part of our surfing existence and we had many beach parties listening to these tunes. On bright, full mooned nights, we would surf for hours - sometimes into the wee hours of the morning - with The Beach Boys blasting from the shore. Would I do that now? No way - do you think I'm crazy? Now, I have a healthy fear of shark feeding times and would never dream of night surfing but what great memories. Besides, I'm lucky if I can stay awake for the 11:00 p.m. news!
