Adopt A Critter, Don't Shop For One

Here's great idea from In Defense of Animals...adopt a pet instead of shopping for one at a pet store. All of uber boudica's critters were feral, abandoned, abused or deemed "not desirable" in some way. And, yes, the critters are traveling with us during our adventure! They are the most amazing creatures and I can't imaging my life without them.

The 1st Annual Nationwide “Adopt, Don’t Shop!” Day is Saturday, 20 December. Make plans to act for companion animals on this day. The Saturday before Christmas is the biggest puppy-buying day of the year. This year, In Defense of Animals is teaming up with activists in dozens of cities around the country to educate the public about the horrors of pet factories (puppy mills) and encourage people to adopt a homeless animal from a shelter or rescue group instead of buying one from a pet store.

Before adopting any pet, remember the responsibility of a furry family addition and the fact that they will not remain that small cute puppy or kitten forever. I have to say that our uber yorkie bucks the norm and remains forever "puppy like" in both appearance and behavior.They will give you a lifetime of joy but they are at your mercy so always show them the respect they deserve.
