Stop Wild Horse Roundup

Shame, shame, shame on the Bureau of Land Management's roundup policy of wild horses and burros.
Please read on from the In Defense of Animals campaign to save our precious - the heritage of our west - wild horses and burros:
"If you’ve watched television or read a newspaper the past few weeks, you couldn't escape the news – America’s wild horses are rapidly being rounded up in what may be the beginning of our nation’s eradication of wild horses. Across the West, our Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is on a rampage, rounding up thousands of horses for an undetermined fate. Not George Bush’s BLM, but Barack Obama’s BLM. This is not the kind of change we voted for.
IDA is the only national animal protection organization on the scene, trying to stop the cruel round-ups of wild horses. Won’t you please help with a tax-deductible donation today?
The horses might be packed into already-crowded holding facilities, which have become permanent homes for over 30,000 horses. Or they might be “relocated” to new Midwest holding facilities. Or they might go to auction. Nobody knows, as the BLM system is already packed with tens of thousands of wild horses who nobody wants except killer-buyers and slaughterhouses. The only acceptable, humane solution is to leave these horses in their natural ranges, like the 500,000-acre Calico Mountain Complex in Nevada, where they are healthy and comfortable. You can see video of these horses here. And these ranges were provided for the horses by Congress. This past Monday, the BLM captured 74 horses in the Calico Complex, and took them to the Fallon holding facility in Nevada. They intend to capture 2,700 horses in this round-up alone. The agency is setting up some capture facilities on private land from which the public will be barred. Nobody will be able to witness the brutal helicopter stampede of the horses over treacherous winter terrain. No one will see the BLM chase older horses, pregnant horses, and little foals to the point of exhaustion, some will be literally run to death. The separation of foals from their mothers, the shattering of horse family bonds will happen behind closed doors." Click on the IDA Wild Horse and Burro blog link but, I warn you, some of the pictures and video are disturbing.
Start off 2010 with the resolution to help those without a voice and stop these shameful policies. For more charitable animal organizations, go to slightly north of worth...avenue critter picks.
