Listen up Twighlight fans, the New Moon movie, based on the second book in this wildly popular saga, is scheduled to be released 20 November 2009. Also announced, a third movie, based on Eclipseby Stephanie Meyers, is slated for a 30 June 2010 release. Something for ya'll to look forward to.
The long awaited Twilight movie opening weekend took in a cool $70.6 million, thanks to the purchase power of teen girls. The tremendous take for the movie far exceeded expectations which had been set at around $50 million. Not bad for a low budget film ($37 million)!
The huge draws are from the extensive fan base of tween/teenage girls who have fallen ga-ga for Stephenie Meyer'snovel of forbidden love. Director Catherine Hardwick's film enjoyed the biggest opening ever for a female director. Whew!
We are in for more teenage girls swooning and squealing as Summit Entertainment, who released Twilight, announced this weekend that it's going ahead with production of "New Moon" which is based on Meyers' second book in the international best selling series. And yes, Robert Pattinson and Kristin Stewart will return as the star crossed lovers. Thank goodness for that...a lot of teens would probably have lost sleep over that one!
Anyhow, with all the excitement over this movie, it does make you want to see what all the hoopla is about. I'm always hesitant to see a movie after reading the book as it usually disappoints but it doesn't look like anything can stop this avalanche of vampire love! Maybe the best thing to come out of this is the number of teenagers reading books. An old fashioned concept but pretty great.
The blockbusterTwilight Seriesis now a movie scheduled for a November 21 release. Until then, here is a little background on the film. Twilight is based on the wildly popular Stephanie Meyer unconventional love story of Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) and Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson). Twilight was filmed on a tight budget in a rainy Oregon environment that presented wardrobe challenges for the characters.
Twilight's Emmett (Kellan Lutz) and Rosalie (Nikki Reed) avoided black but utilized cool blue and gray to convey death and iciness.
Twilight'sEmmett(Kellan Lutz), Rosalie (Nikki Reed), Alice (Ashley Greene) and Japser (Jackson Rathbone)...all had to portray the perpetual teenager with mysterious connections. Cool colors enhanced the vampire makeup. And I thought being a vampire was pretty straightforward. Who knew that wardrobe challenges would be such an issue?
